The Chicagoland Natural Gas Savings Program offers rebates and low-interest loans to encourage customers to make energy efficient improvements to their apartment buildings and businesses.
Homeowners, landlords and small business owners are eligible for rebates on energy efficient furnaces, boilers, water heaters and insulation purchased between November 1, 2009 and January 15, 2010.
To qualify, gas furnaces, boilers and water heaters must be installed by professional contractors. Property owners may opt to self-install attic and wall insulation or hire a professional contractor.
The maximum rebate amounts are: $750 for insulation, $600 for boilers, $450 for furnaces and $400 for water heaters.
To see a full list of eligible models and insulation and learn how to apply, visit Chicagoland Natural Gas Savings Program or call 866-964-7345. Applications must be made no later than 60 days after the purchase or by February 15, 2010, whichever comes first.
Owners of apartment buildings (larger than five units) can receive help making energy efficient upgrades through the Energy Savers Program.
The program has conducted energy audits in more than 3,800 units, and more than 2,000 units are in the process of being upgraded. Typical upgrades include insulation, energy efficient lighting, new windows and heating-air conditioning systems.
Building owners can save money on their energy bills while receiving low-interest loans and other assistance to make improvements that increase comfort and energy efficiency.
