How often can I switch suppliers?
You can change suppliers once each billing cycle. However, suppliers may charge a fee to terminate a contract early. Check with your current supplier before making any changes.

Your new supplier will notify the utility of the change. Participating suppliers are fully aware of the applicable procedures and deadlines.

How do I terminate my choice program service?
You can contact your supplier to terminate the process or you can notify us in writing directly at the address below. Your transportation service agreement requires a 30-day notification.

What is a transportation contract account?
Customers new to the transportation program are assigned a contract account used to bill certain administrative and other charges not billed at the (premises) account level. A premises account shows consumption by meter and other charges, such as customer service charges, distribution charges and standby demand charges. A contract account does not.

How do suppliers deliver gas?
Suppliers arrange for transportation of customer-owned gas through interstate pipelines to the Peoples Gas system. Gas is then transported through our distribution system to your premises.

What transportation-related tariffs do Peoples Gas offer to marketers/suppliers?
Pooling Service is available to marketers/suppliers under Rider P of its Schedule of Rates for Gas Service. Transportation Balancing Service is available to marketers/suppliers who participate in Pooling Service for Large-Volume Selected Standby Transportation Service customers.

Which interstate pipelines serve Peoples Gas, and how can I determine which pipeline serves a particular customer?
Peoples Gas transportation customers can receive deliveries from six interstate pipelines:
  1. Natural Gas Pipeline Company of America (NGPL)
  2. Midwestern Gas Transmission Company (Midwestern)
  3. ANR Pipeline Company (ANR)
  4. Trunkline Gas Company (Trunkline)
  5. Northern Border Pipeline Company (NBPL)
  6. Alliance Pipeline (APL)

How will I know how much gas my telemetered customers used?
PEGASys®, Peoples Gas's transportation management software, has a variety of management tools and reports that display usage information. The usage information can be viewed in aggregate or down to the meter level.

When can customers begin transportation service?
Customers new to any of the transportation programs can start service at any time during the year. Customers who wish to return to transportation service generally have to wait twelve (12) months before returning to the program.
