Upkeep and Repair Program
Housing Opportunities & Maintenance for the Elderly (H.O.M.E.) provides minor home repairs to eligible seniors through its Upkeep and Repair Program. H.O.M.E. is a Chicago-based non-profit organization that helps low-income seniors live independently.
The Upkeep and Repair Program helps low-income, elderly homeowners maintain healthy and safe living conditions in their homes. Types of repairs include furnaces, water heaters, electrical and plumbing issues, smoke and carbon monoxide alarms and installation of bathroom grab bars.
The program is available to Chicago homeowners who live south of North Avenue and are at least age 62 (age 55 for people with disabilities). Eligibility is based on income.
Call H.O.M.E. at 773-921-3200. H.O.M.E. staff will visit the applicant's home to determine if the requested repair can be completed.
