Dollars for Doers
The purpose of the Dollars for Doers Program is to encourage our employees and retirees to volunteer for their favorite qualifying organization and have the benefiting organization receive a grant on behalf of the employee.
Employees and retirees who contribute at least 20 hours of volunteer time to qualifying organizations can have up to $100 donated to the nonprofit organization of their choice. The qualifying organizations are the same ones that are eligible for the Matching Gift Program.
Each organization should serve within the company's operating territory and must be tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
The program focuses on organizations assisting with arts and culture, community and neighborhood development, health and human services, the environment, and schools (Grades K-12). Contributions to educational institutions and faith based organizations are not eligible for inclusion in the Dollars For Doers program at this time. 501(c)3 organizations that operate in the company service area are categorized as:
- Arts and culture
- Community and neighborhood development
- Human services and health
- Environment
- Schools (grades K-12)
- Colleges and universities
The Dollars For Doers fiscal year is January 1 through December 15. Requests will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until the program's annual limit is reached.
An employee or retiree needs to submit a Dollars For Doers request form to the nonprofit organization by December 15 of each year.
Questions should be directed to the Dollars for Doers program coordinator, Peoples Gas, 312-240-4930.
